AYDEM was granted the concession for electricity distribution and trading services in the provinces of Aydın, Denizli and Muğla in 1991, and in 2000 signed an Implementation Agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, along with all other ancillary agreements. Aydem expects actual transfer of operations to occur in the first half of 2008, following the completion of a period of contract restructuring that resulted from the passage of Electricity Market Law 4628 in 2001. The Aydın - Denizli - Muğla region has approximately 1.3 million customers consuming over 4.6 billion kWh of electricity annually, which is expected to double to 10 billion kWh in 2012.
